Welcome to ALL ABOUT MINING: MODERN MINING FOR K-12 EDUCATORS.

All About Mining now hosts two courses:
  1. Mining for a STEAM Education (Completely Virtual, Eligible for Continuing Education Credit)
  2. All About Mining (Hybrid Online/In-Person Course, Eligible for 6 Continuing Education Credits)
Both courses provide an in-depth detailed overview of the modern mining industry, answering important questions such as:
  • What does the mining industry do and how does it impact the environment?
  • How does the mining industry function?
  • Why is mining important to society?

MINING FOR A STEAM EDUCATION VIRTUAL COURSE (NEW!)

Our new and exciting virtual course option for K-12 teachers offered in partnership with the Colorado Mining Association Education Foundation, Colorado School of Mines, Nevada Mining Association, and Nevada Division of Minerals.  
 

Mining for a STEAM Education is a professional development course aimed at K-12 educators in the hopes of introducing students to the many STEAM concepts throughout the mining cycle.  STEAM represents educational concepts that focus on Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics.  STEAM-engaged students explore scientific concepts collaboratively through inquiry and problem-based learning methods throughout a creative process.

The modern mining industry has countless examples of activities and lessons that can readily convey STEAM concepts.

 

Mining for a STEAM Education will guide a teacher through the mining cycle, while introducing numerous classroom activities to supplement nearly every school subject. Click here to start the course now!

 

ALL ABOUT MINING HYBRID COURSE

The All About Mining course is an interactive hybrid course encompassing three components:
  • At your own pace on-line lectures, select quizzes on lectures, and completion of three lesson plans;
  • Three days of more in-depth review on the Colorado School of Mines campus (June 2022);
  • Five-day road trip to visit mines and other sites in Colorado (June of 2022).
You will walk away with incredible lesson plans, experiences and educational materials.
Earn 6 hours of Continuing Education Credits (CEU’s).
Since 1968 the All About Mining course has been accredited and approved by the Colorado School of Mines.
 
As a participant you’ll learn how our modern mining industry is discovering and producing minerals, energy and a variety of other materials we need for our global society while also working to protect the environment and leave the land in better condition after reclamation when the mining process is complete.

Mining for a STEAM Education was developed in partnership with the Colorado Mining Association Education Foundation, Colorado School of Mines Teacher Enhancement Program, Nevada Mining Association, and Nevada Division of Minerals.
