K-12 Educators

Welcome to ALL ABOUT MINING: 21st CENTURY MINING FOR K-12 EDUCATORS.

This course provides a detailed overview of America’s modern mining industry, answering important questions such as:
  • What does the mining industry do and how does it impact the environment?
  • How does the mining industry function?
  • Why is mining important to American society?
As a participant you’ll learn how our modern mining industry is discovering and producing minerals, energy and a variety of other materials we need for our global society while also working to protect the environment and leave the land in better condition after reclamation when the mining process is complete.
The All About Mining course is an interactive hybrid course encompassing three components:
  • At your own pace on-line lectures, select quizzes on lectures, and completion of three lesson plans;
  • Three days of more in-depth review on the Colorado School of Mines campus (June 18 - 20, 2020);
  • Five-day road trip to visit mines and other sites in Colorado (June 22 - June 26, 2020).
You will walk away with incredible lesson plans, experiences and educational materials.
Earn 6 hours of Continuing Education Credits (CEU’s).
Since 1968 the All About Mining course has been accredited and approved by the Colorado School of Mines.

Due to the Covid19 outbreak, the CMA Education Foundation has decided to cancel the in-person classes and field trip components of our popular All About Mining course that were scheduled for June 18-26, 2020.
