Mining methods – Recovering the minerals from the ground

Chemical Leaching and Solution Mining

Some mineral deposits occur in nature in rock which is porous and allows solutions to flow through it.  This lecture discusses such deposits and the method of mining using drill holes from the surface which inject solutions into the deposit to dissolve the minerals and allow them to be pumped to the surface for recovery.  Both mining and restoration of the mined horizon when the minerals have been recovered are discussed.
