Mineral processing – Recovery of metals from the rock

Chemical Methods of Concentration - Gold Ore Processing

If the economic mineral is fine enough, physical methods such as gravity will not work.  In the case of very low grade gold deposits, the gold occurs in “no-see-um” sizes.  In this case the rock in which the mineral occurs is chemically treated to dissolve the economic mineral, the solution in which the mineral is contained is then treated to recover the mineral in a saleable form.  This lecture discusses the “in’s and out’s” of gold recovery by chemical methods of concentration.
